In 2012 SELOC re-established its own sprint series and MSA approved Speed Championship.  2013 also saw Lotus on Track Racing Drivers Club return to the UK sprint circuits for a small series of non-championship events.  With both clubs attracting strong grids throughout the year at often the same venue it was felt the Lotus community was best served by bringing both elements under the same banner.

2014 was the inaugural year of the Lotus Cup UK Speed Championship, a sprint championship with ten rounds scheduled at venues across the country.  The popularity has increased with over 30 competitors taking part in the series in 2014 and now 50 registered to compete in 2015.

Its aim is to introduce more enthusiasts into the world of competitive motorsport and is suitable to those with road cars and no previous motorsport experience, whilst keeping the same sensible approach towards venues and regulations that have seen so many Lotus owners compete for the first time.
